Stretch Your Notions About Web Ads
I like to read the Prensa Libre, an online Guatemalan newspaper so I know what’s going on in Guatemala. I take one-on-one streaming video Spanish conversation tutorials twice a week (via ooVoo and Skype) from Internet Spanish. I like having something to talk about other than “what all the dog did today,” as Willie Nelson once sang.
Today I had three surprises: first that Guatemalan ex-president Alfonso Portillo was captured and jailed, giving the U.S. 40 days to prepare charges against him for diverting funds and washing money.
Second on Prensa Libre in the narrow left column, I saw an ad with Darren Rowse, the Pro Blogger himself, touting Chitika as his second biggest source of income, after Adsense. I first heard about Darren last weekend from Mary Gillen’s Learn One Thing newsletter. I had not heard of Chitika or thought that a blogger in English would profit from advertising in a Guatemalan newspaper.
