Vincent Van Gogh Letters

I’m excited. I followed a link in The Economist: http://www.vangoghletters.org and came upon the new edition of Van Gogh’s letters. The Van Gogh Museum with the Huygens Institute  have given lovers of art, biography, original sources, and technology a unique gift by publishing  “the large, all-encompassing edition digitally.”  Here’s what we get

• Facsimiles of 902 letters, many with sketches
• New translation into English
• Notes in English that identify and explain names and allusions
• Digital reproduction of works of art mentioned in the letters, some held in private collections
• Concordance
• A brillant interface: you can choose and change which resources to view simultaneously
