Vincent Van Gogh Letters

I’m excited. I followed a link in The Economist: http://www.vangoghletters.org and came upon the new edition of Van Gogh’s letters. The Van Gogh Museum with the Huygens Institute have given lovers of art, biography, original sources, and technology a unique gift by publishing “the large, all-encompassing edition digitally.” Here’s what we get
- Facsimiles of 902 letters, many with sketches
- New translation into English
- Notes in English that identify and explain names and allusions
- Digital reproduction of works of art mentioned in the letters, some held in private collections
- Concordance
- A brillant interface: you can choose and change which resources to view simultaneously
