CSS helps you create external stylesheets for consistency of pages and easier maintenance of your site. You can create great layouts without the use of tables.
Understanding CSS is important when using Dreamweaver because the program relies heavily on CSS coding for both layout and text formatting.
Goals
Create and control a website without using tables for layout.
Audience
You'll learn with others new to CSS as well as with some who have worked with CSS a bit in Dreamweaver and want a fuller understanding of the code.
Prerequisites
Connect Learning's HTML/XHTML, another HTML class or equivalent experience. You also need typing skills and the ability to copy and move text by cutting and pasting. You may choose to take Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 Fundamentals before or after CSS Fundamentals.
Objectives
By the end of this two-day class successful participants will be able to
- Incorporate styles 3 ways: embedded, inline and external style sheets
- Set typography
- Describe Class and ID Selector essentials
- Color text
- Add background colors and background images
- Position backgrounds and background shorthand
- Specify Box properties and using margins, padding & borders
- Lay out your Web page with Absolute positioning
- Use Z-index
- Insert the tag for layout and positioning
- Place the elements of a Web page using Relative positioning
- Set link colors and non-underlined links using CSS Set styles for customizing tables and form elements
